India offers unlimited possibilities to Scuba diving enthusiasts. Given its
vast, undulating coastline dotted with sandy beaches, two major group of islands,
some of the most isolated, unexplored and exotic diving locations in the world
and numerous island lakes, there is enough to whet the appetite of the most
demanding diving buff.
In fact, destinations offering diving spots in India now figure prominently in the itinerary of a growing number of domestic as well as foreign tourists who are lured by the exotic locations of scuba diving centres unrivalled in diversity and natural beauty. Equally attractive are the affordable prices at which the thrills of the sport can be had in the country. The pristine locations more than make up for what the country lacks in terms of infrastructure and state-of-the-art equipment. The relatively warm waters are another welcome change to foreign tourists, who may pay anything upto $800 elsewhere for expensive wet-suits or dry-suits.
The coral reefs and pristine blue lagoons of Lakshadweep and Andamans are the
ideal location to go Scuba diving in India. At present, Scuba diving facilities
exist at the Andaman Beach Resort and the Bay Island at Port Blair, and the
Bangaram Beach Resort in the Lakshadweep. Lakshadweep has some of the best diving
spots in the world, comparable to the Maldives and the Great Barrier Reefs.
"
Lacadives", located at the Kadmat Island Resort, is the only
diving school of its kind for beginners.
